Role Description

Job Purpose

Ensuring industrial health & Safety of employees/equipment at plant

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Training and Employee involvement:
  1. Conduct safety Induction program for all new entrants and continuous training programs for all employees working in the plant.
  2. Conduct Mock drills on Emergency situations
  3. Attend safety meetings in the plant and closing safety points of such meetings.
  4. Conduct Safety round and sharing observation report on daily basis.
  5. Conduct and ensure Tool box talk for all employees.
  6. Ensure safety communication arrangements through Displays, Safety Signs, In House Magazines, Safety Literature, Annual Plant Safety Performance Report etc.
  7. Involvement in safety goal/target setting, Improvement project, Safety Suggestion Scheme, Safety Promotional activities etc.
  8. Maintain training and competency level required to manage and maintain equipment and perform testing per the appropriate standards and procedures
  1. Safety Audits and Inspections
  1. Ensure statutory inspection for all lifting tools& tackles and pressure vessels through third party.
  2. Conduct non statutory inspections for the plant
  3. Comply ESS and GRC portal
  4. Participation in safety audits and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for points of safety audits
  5. Involvement in the process of hazard identification and risk assessment
  6. Conduct Job safety analysis for construction activities
  7. Involvement in statutory assessment of contractor from safety point of view
  8. Controlling contractors through regular monitoring, reward & penalty system and performance review of Contractor
  9. Inspect all safety equipment and maintain them in good manner
  1. Safety and fire Control system
  1. Ensure good health of safety guards, safety interlocks, hand tools and power tools in the plant
  2. Ensure 100% compliance with work permit system and safe isolation procedure
  3. Study and control hazardous substances in the plant
  4. Procurement and maintain personal protective equipment in the plant.
  5. Monitoring noise, ventilation and dust in the workplace
  6. Inspection of electrical equipment and installation
  7. Ensure fire risk of hazardous area in the plant
  8. Ensure maintenance of firefighting equipment and documentation
  9. Ensure healthiness of fire alarm system
  10. Train employees on emergency planning
  1. Safety performance & measurement
  1. Report all incidents including near miss on ESS
  2. Ensure investigation of all incidents including near miss
  3. Maintain data of incident trend analysis
  4. Recognizing and Managing Potential Loss Areas
  1. Workplace safety
  1. Ensure hygiene of workplace
  2. Ensure safety display in the plant
  3. Ensure 5S  in the plant
  4. Handling Fire Fighting system
  5. Risk assessment, Hazop study, Factories Act, FMEA, legal frameworks for safety
  6. Interlocks and their operation, fire hydrant systems, maintenance of fire hydrant systems, fire extinguishers and their operation.
  1. Process Safety Management
  1. Ensure to sets and enforces the legal and technical requirements for PSM.
  2. Ensure to provide guidance and support for the implementation and improvement of PSM.
  3. Support in inspections, audits, and investigations to verify the compliance and performance of the organization.
  4. Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential risks.
  5. Works with corporate safety and refining technical groups to develop goals, standards, policies, work practices and expectations regarding corporate process safety management (PSM) program.
  6. Be responsible for the ownership for execution of projects and action items related PSM.
  7. Ensure all changes to processes are controlled through Management of Change and Pre-Startup Safety Review procedures
  1. Behavior Base Safety (BBS)
  1. Ensure to focus attention on workers' behavior as the cause of most work-related

        injuries and illnesses.

  1. Develop BBS checklist is a direct-observation tool used to recognize safe behavior

and eliminate the root cause of unsafe acts

  15. Complete process safety reviews and develop recommendations for addressing process safety issues
  16. Provide risk assessment through the use of risk analysis techniques and tools
  17. Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and industrial processes
  18. Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment
  19. Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases
  20. Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards
  21. Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents
  22. Review employee safety programs to determine their adequacy
  23. Provide coaching to plants on identification and resolution of process safety issues

Essential

  • Diploma in Industrial safety recognized by State govt.

 

Desired

  • Diploma in chemical/ Fire and safety/Mechanical

 

Previous Experience

Essential

Should have 1-3 yrs experience in industrial safety

Desired

  • Preferably in process safety.
