Role Description:


Job Purpose

  • To handle the legal requirements of Asian Paints international business as well as new businesses and provide commercially relevant, practical and proactive legal services. 

 

Business Responsibility Areas:

Asian Paints International Business:

  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiation and closure of agreements, documents and ensuring that the associated risks for the Company are minimized.
  • Coordination and management of AP International business units and providing legal, litigation and recovery support
  • Participate in negotiation of key business contracts and provide inputs from a legal perspective and coordinating with various internal stakeholders (Business, Finance, Taxation Teams) to ensure timely closure of agreements.
  • End to end legal management of assigned business transactions and legal advisory.

Contract Repository:

  • Preparation of Agreement MIS on regular intervals.
  • Tracking of renewals and other major triggers under the contractual relationship. 
  • Ensure Proper execution and storage of original agreements. 
  • Preparation of Agreement MIS on regular intervals.

Compliance and New Businesses Integration:

  • Working closely with compliance team to ensure 100% compliance for new businesses.
  • Streamlining and setting up legal processes as per APL standards
  • Act as a SPOC for new businesses in the areas of IPR, Agreement, Litigation and Property matters. 

Research:

  • Researching on various country’s laws applicable to the business in that region,
  • Research on finding appropriate judgments for better interpretation of the contractual understanding.

Trainings:

  • Provide training to internal teams on standard operating procedures for business agreements.

General Advisory and Support:

  • Provide sound legal advice to different business verticals on various legal matters on the business aspects.
  • Act as a Legal SPOC with all external consultants, lawyers and internal stakeholders
  • Advising international business units on various business matters especially in the areas of agreement review, IPR and recovery of outstanding debts. 
  • Co – ordinating with all law firms including foreign law firms on legal compliance requirements of business in that country.

 

Qualifications:

  • LLB from a recognised law university, LLM will be additional advantage

 

Previous Experience:

Minimum 6 to 8 years of prior experience
