External Job Description
Job Purpose
To lead end‑to‑end procurement of Raw Materials (RM) and Packaging Materials (PM) along with Finished Good (FG) for the Bath Fitting business from both Local and Import vendors, ensuring cost competitiveness, supplier capability, quality consistency, and uninterrupted supplies, in line with the objectives of the business, mitigate supply risks and deliver cost savings.
Business Responsibility Areas
- Procurement of Brass alloys ingot and components, Zinc handles, SS 304 parts and sinks, ABS showers, primary and secondary packing material along with Out-of-BOM material.
- Sourcing forged, cast and CNC‑machined components used in faucets, shower arms and concealed parts
- Cost and supplier management of chrome‑plating–critical inputs.
- To procure material at most competitive prices and help keep APL cost Competitive in the market.
- Interacting with Consultants, Vendors, industry experts to derive insights into the market dynamics for the category and make buying decision basis the same.
- Tracking and negotiating metal price–linked contracts (Copper, Zinc, Brass) with structured escalation / de‑escalation mechanisms
- Support New Product Development (NPD) costing and feasibility assessments
- Mapping the demand to ensure seamless availability of material at all manufacturing locations, to ensure no loss of production.
- Responsible for managing relationships and negotiating with suppliers on a regular basis and ensuring seamless execution of the entire procure to pay cycle for the vendors.
- To hold suppliers accountable to right quality of materials in accordance with specified Quality standards.
- CAPA closure for Quality rejections.
- Sourcing vendors for development and indigenization of Import materials.
- To keep scanning the market for driving cost saving initiative in the category
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Planning / Quality / Plant / Marketing / Finance / Accounts)
- Drive improvement projects withing the function / category.
- Create and implement best practice purchasing strategy to aid cost effective buying.
- Cost Control to ensure zero impact on product margin.
- Statutory compliance for MSME vendors in terms of Payment, Accounts reconciliation etc.
Qualifications
- Essential - Post Graduate diploma / degree in Operations Management from a reputed institution OR Graduate in Engineering from a reputed institution with industry experience in Purchase
- Desired - Must have handled 100 Cr purchase
Previous Experience
- Essential – Min 8 years of experience with min 5 years of relevant experience in purchase
- Desired - Experience in handling purchase of Commodity RMs and components is preferred
