External Job Description

Job Purpose

  • Implement and drive cost management initiatives, define controls to mitigate financial risk, and execute as per laid-down procedures.
  • Act as one point interface of plant to Corporate Taxation, Corporate Accounts, Shared Service Center, Legal & Corporate Audit.
  • Active role in negotiation and commercial activities of all major procurements.

Business Responsibility Areas 

Cost Management

  • Prepare and propose the factory overhead revenue budget.
  • Track costs through effective MIS on a monthly basis and drive cost reduction and control objectives across functions.
  • Monitor and control factory-level losses (material usage parameters) to optimize material costs.

Ensuring Effective Compliance

  • Implement processes effectively to ensure correct availing of Cenvat credit and correct duty discharge on dispatches.
  • File statutory returns with taxation authorities.
  • Maintain proper documentation as per Customs procedures, statutory requirements, and internal documentation requirements.
  • Provide necessary support to Corporate Taxation in related matters.

Coordination and Support for Statutory Audit

  • Support Corporate Accounts in conducting statutory audits related to plant operations.
  • Ensure timely submission of quarterly financial closure certificates after due verification by the Statutory Auditor.

Effective Internal Controls

  • Conduct regular internal control reviews through process audits, surprise checks, data analysis of key controls, and participation in quarterly stock-taking activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of statutory compliance applicable to the plant.
  • Conduct CAPEX benefit assessments for major capital expenditure projects.

Commercial Activities

  • Participate in major commercial negotiations and review major purchase contracts applicable to the plant.
  • Ensure compliance with commercial policies and authority manuals for all financial transactions.
  • Coordinate with the Legal team for review and vetting of legal documents.

People Management

  • Set performance goals for team members in line with departmental objectives.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews and assess achievement against goals.
  • Prepare development plans for team members to support their growth.
  • Identify training and development needs of subordinates.

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide necessary support to the plant for resource provisioning and smooth execution of day-to-day operations.
  • Prepare the annual IT budget, monitor its execution, and conduct regular reviews of IT-related issues.
